Editorial services

The Communications and Marketing department assists with the drafting and editing of university marketing materials (e.g. booklets, viewbooks, pamphlets, evites, posters and digital signage content), ensuring all products follow our editorial style and brand standards.

We liaise with university faculties and departments to produce and distribute internal communications materials including a weekly newsletter and time-sensitive campus-wide messages and regularly post new content on the university’s main website, edit content on existing pages and uoit.ca microsites, and edit, process and activate items submitted to the uoit.ca event calendar and sub-calendars.

The department also serves as the primary contact for inquiries from news organizations and reporters seeking to connect with the university’s researchers and subject matter experts including offering time-sensitive subject matter expertise to newsrooms on trending or ‘breaking’ news stories. We often take internal story ideas and develop them into news items or feature stories for external audiences. We post these stories in the news section of uoit.ca and/or share with reporters to generate earned media coverage, build relationships with news outlets, and produce regular media focusing on recent news across the university campus.
